On May 9, voters in the Goose Creek Consolidated Independent School District and Lee College District have an opportunity to vote to elect members to the Lee College Board of Regents and Goose Creek ISD Board of Trustees, Single-Member District 3.
There will be a chance to meet the candidates at a luncheon this Thursday, April 9, at the San Jacinto community center.
Early voting will run from April 27 to May 5. The notice of general joint election contains information about polling locations. The Baytown Events calendar has also been updated with this data.
So who’s on the ballot? The following seven individuals are competing for three seats on the Lee College Board of Regents in an at large election. Listed in the ballot position order described by Lee College on Point:
- Weston Cotten, attorney and former member of the Goose Creek School Board (1990-2008)
- Mark Hall, incumbent
- David Isaac, political science major and student body president
- Joseph P. (Dan) Mendoza, retired Lee College professor of 50 years and former campus representative for the Texas Community College Teachers Association
- Gina Roberson Rivon, city utility manager
- Mark Himsel, incumbent
- Daryl Fontenot, “certified financial planner, wealth management adviser and vice president with Merrill Lynch”[3]
The following candidates are running for Goose Creek CISD Board of Trustees:
- District 3
- Jessica Woods, Highlands-Lynchburg Chamber of Commerce executive director
- Jerry Fallin, Fallin Properties founder
- District 4
- Gabrielle “Gigi” Gorman Cockrell, licensed professional counselor
- District 6
- Al Richard
- District 7
- Pete Pape
The elections for Districts 4, 6, and 7 have been cancelled since the time of their announcement, as the candidates were unopposed.[4]
The city of Mont Belvieu also has two contested races.
